EXCEPT FOR 뜻 차이

ACCEPT [ək^|sept] (동사) ~을 받아들이다 

(= receive, agree with, believe)

[예문] She won't accept any advice from anyone.

         그녀는 누구의 조언도 수용하지 않을 것이다.

[예문] My essays have been accepted for publication.

         나의 수필이 출판을 수락 받았다.

[예문] I accepted all my birthday presents with gratitude.

         나는 모든 생일 선물을 감사히 받았다.

EXCEPT [ɪk^|sept] (접속사/전치사) ~를 제외하고 

(= but, apart from, otherwise than, were it not true)

except가 전치사일 경우엔 except for과 같은 의미를 지니며, 뒤에 바로 명사를 수반하여 [except (for) + 명사]의 형태를 갖는다. 반면, except가 접속사일 경우 that이 생략된 절이 수반된다. 즉 [except (that) 주어+동사]의 형태를 갖는다.

[예문] When Michelle travels, she packs everything except (for) the kitchen sink.

         Michelle은 여행할 때 주방 싱크대를 빼곤 전부 다 챙긴다.

[예문] We work everyday except (for) Sunday.

         우리는 일요일 이외엔 매일 일한다.

[예문] Our dresses were the same except (that) mine was black.

         우리 드레스는 내 것이 검정색이라는 걸을 제외하곤 똑같았다.

[예문] I didn't tell him anything except (that) he would get fired.

         나는 그가 해고될 것이라는 것 외에는 아무 것도 말하지 않았다.
